Edgar spread his hands in a show of helpless innocence.

Chips and cards scattered in a multi-coloured flurry, pattering to the polished hardwood like a sudden rainfall. Edgar’s back hit the table a split-second later, smooth smile still firmly in place.

“Never cheat a man at his own table,” Setzer advised, a bit too late considering the circumstances.

Edgar spread his hands in a show of helpless innocence. “Couldn’t it be that you actually managed to lose?”

Setzer smiled a wide, self-satisfied smile, hands braced on either side of Edgar’s head. “That would be admitting you cheat better than I do.”
